There is a goal in mind for me.
It's not my own. I have been thrown
into a violent, stormy sea
and told to keep my head above water.
I am a stat upon a sheet.
I'm aware that those in charge don't care
so long as I remain elite.
This so called "success" is bitter-sweet.
Now, I'm but a deportee
from a bureaucracy not meant for me.
My legacy; my self-worth's gauge
remains as numbers on a page
that pays my teacher's salary
and I find the truth quite cruel.
Be you a genius or a fool,
in public school, you're someone's tool.
