Saturday Night Live

"Saturday Night Live" a spokenword piece by Brandon P.
Let me tell you how I lived my Saturday Night Life.
It’s kind of funny, you see, because I’m from Las Vegas, Nevada—the Notorious Sin City
The musical “stereo”type for tonight’s act bumped the bass of Tupac and the B.I.G.
I felt whole-note goose-bumps being composed on my arm when the tremble of Treble Clef, the G, came conducting his troubled melodies, pop pop…—he got 25 to life; quarter notes made up his 4/4 time; here’s the Coda—the end of his piece.
The last thing he heard was the harmonies of Po-Po; pow pow.
Here’s a rest.
Let me tell you how I lived my Saturday Night Life.
It’s kind of funny, you see, because I’m from Las Vegas, Nevada—the Notorious Sin City
This sketch stars me at a casual Saturday night party—speakers blasting Tupac and the B.I.G.
I caught my homies cooing to the ladies, “I don’t wanna be a playa no more…’’ What a Big Pun. These guys were scratching on broken ones and twos saying you and me forever.
These DJ’s were just jockeying for Lust’s caress when it was Her that robbed them of their chastity belts and drugged them with jockstraps—love was just a game and they were on steroids.
During these nights I’d wish for life as falling stars passed by, headlights I saw while a homie was taking us to the next spot—these people were my Ride and Die’s.
The only laughter from tonight’s audience came when he, she, they, us, you, me threw-up all of our insecurities, feelings, love…and flushed it down; what a cruel joke!
I can’t be accepted for being me! I get a punch line for trying to find real friends.
That’s why my world was turned downside up, red-lipstick cups kissed my lips with liquor that resembled black liquorice. How bittersweet.
Let me tell you how I live my Saturday Night Life.
It’s kind of ironic, you see, because I’m from Las Vegas, Nevada—the Notorious Sin City.
And now I bear my cross on my back, bumping the hymns of G.O.D. All those times he was my backbone, trying to get His Prodigal son to come back home. I spent the value of life wallowing in a trough.
I found my light in the darkness and not just by flipping on the high beams; my wish came true.
I found people who cared about me in a youth group YFL LV; Youth for Family and Life. Youth for Life. Youth living not to expend our souls on secular goodies, but rather Youth living for a life that G.O.D will smile upon and laugh—for His chuckle is the best cure for our sickness.
