(This is a found poem.

Dashes equal a beat.)

I wish things would go back to normal -

Why are you prioritizing your want for normalcy

over the need for change?

Are you more enraged by property

being damaged or loss of human life?

Some of the looting are actions from

people not associated with the movement.

We Do Not get to decide what are acceptable

forms of grieving. Kaepernick keeled. Rosa Park sat -

My participation will not help.

Let them know why their point of view is prejudice.

Be patient and respectful.

They feel afraid,

they think this group is dangerous,

they believe their prejudice keeps them safe.

Push through their discomfort -

Our participation is essential.

It must be appropriate.

Change your language.

This is the year we’ve been waiting for.

I just want justice!
