"Scattered"

I thought I was whole,

I thought I loved him.

I didn't think of my soul;

It would later turn dim.

I knew in my heart,

I felt a great pain.

But we couldn't be apart,

Not even in shame.

As the days swept by,

The pain became dull.

I tried not to cry,

But the tears fell in full.

And so we both knew,

It would never be sane;

It was way overdue,

That our bond was vain.

The pain left my mind,

Scattered

My dignity,

Scattered

My whole life,

Scattered.

Once the bruises began to fade,

I knew where I could go.

To a place I once laid,

A place called home.

I could brighten my soul,

And fix my scattered mess.

Because I can only be whole,

While at my very best.
