JACKSON JOHNNY wearin prison blues

JACKSON JOHNNY
BY MIRA WILDER

Jackson Johnny
runnin from the law
shot a man in Iowa
at a Liquor store

Valentine Red Scarf
drinking at the Blue Bar
looking for a renter
for her vacant heart

Through an email...
he lured her,
one visit to the jail,
and he assured her,
penned for murder
doin life
but He'd be faithful
if she'd be his wife...

Chorus:
He's wearin prison blues
and shoes with no ties
she's gonna love him
til the day that he dies...

Every night at 6
the collect call come
the rest of the time
she's drinking alone
say's "he's innocent
should never had a gun"
When he breaks out
we'll live as one...
until that day the phone would do
married to a man
wearing prison blues

Chorus:
He's wearing prison blues
and shoes with no ties
she's gonna love him
til the day he dies...

Valentine Red Scarf,
puts down her drink...
High heels clicking
along the brink
a woman gets lonely
when her man's in the hole
married to a felon
while she grows old

chorus:
He's wearin prison blues
and shoes with no ties
she's gonna love him
til the day he dies...

Valentine Red Scarf
living at the blue bar
reads a stack of letters
from her lifer's love.
Conjugal visits
was never enough.
She's out drinking and flirting
behind incarcerated love....

When he gets out
he might kill her,
If he knew someone else
was doing the drilling...behind steel bars he'd never know
he called her his
but she was in control....

chorus;
he's wearin prison blues
and shoes with no ties
she's gonna love him
til the day he dies...
