Litany (Inspired by Billy Collins)- Beyoncé vs. Miriyoncé

You are the honey and the bee,

the Drunk in Love Diva and the Survivor.

You are the Blue Ivy on the tree

and the humid air of the Houston summer.

You are the Heat cologne on the Deréon dress

and the cause of war between the Beyhive and the Rihanna Navy.

However, you are not the Kim Kardashian of North West,

the Keys of Alicia,

or the Hannah Montana of Miley Cyrus.

And you are certainly not the puke-ridden Gaga

There is just no way that you are the puke-ridden Gaga.

It is possible that you are the Jay to the left of the Z,

maybe even the Bonnie and Clyde On the Run(Part II),

but you are not even close

to being the camera on the elevator.

And a quick look in the mirror will show

that you are neither the Child of Destiny

nor the Empire State of Mind.

It might interest you to know,

speaking of the life of a Carter,

that I am the Yoncé of Clinton, MS.

I also happen to be the Gemini,

the Girl who Runs the World born on 6.18.97

and the oohs and ahhs of the Jealous

I am also the Carmen Brown who Woke Up Like This

and Foxxy Cleopatra’s afro.

But don’t worry, I’m not the honey and the bee.

You are still the honey and the bee.

You will always be the honey and the bee,

not to mention the Drunk in Love Diva and--somehow--the Survivor.
