Words of Love
As I was heading out to work,
My lunch bag in my hand,
I heard a voice behind me say,
“You’re doing all you can”
Stirred in my heart the confidence
To face the weary day
And I approached my office
Keeping fearful thoughts at bay
And recalled the conversation
That took place the night before
“Because I love you so, my dear,
And will forevermore,
I’ll honor you with all my speech
As gently as I can
The words I speak from here on out
Will make you feel a man
Because I love you so, my dear
You’ll never hear from me
Any cross or unkind word
To make you unhappy”
And since that day is issued forth
A fountain of good cheer
And never was there in our house
A rude word or a jeer
