I met her by the seaside
Almost in a trance
As sunshine shone upon her
And skipping waves did dance.

She called me with a whisper
Through the ocean air,
But as I did approach her
I found she wasn’t there.

I stood there still believing
All I saw was true
And stood there shouting for her
To vast and empty blue.
