What If I Told You

What if I told you

That when I think you about my skin lifts from my bones and my brain turns into mush?

What if I told you

That when you contact me my reality becomes distorted?

What if I told you

That when I talk about you to the universe, the universe ignores me?

What if I told you

That when I touch myself, I numb my hands so I can pretend that they're yours?

What if I told you

That intimacy with anyone else never gets me... there?

What if I told you

That I want to develop a relationship with someone at my work because he resembles you?

What if I told you

That I wish, during my solitude, you would dedicate Goapele songs to me or that you purchased me the wrong size in that shirt because you observed that I was losing weight

What if I told you

That I need you like I need air or like I need the nutrition from Mother Earth?

What if I told you

That I hate you?

What if I told you

That I only write poetry because I need another way to speak about you?

What if I told you these things ? Would you filter out what you wanted to hear? Would you blame your distance because of the raw parts? Or would you do what you always do-nothing?
