What I See

What I see when I look in the mirror,

I see a scared girl who had to grow up faster than she planned.

I see a wannabe.

A girl who wants to be everything she is not.

I see a grown woman with a childhood mind.

A girl who has been raped by those who were suppose to keep her safe.

I see a terrified little girl who was forced to run away from her childhood

by her family

And a family that tore her self-esteem into a thousand words.

What I see when I look in the mirror,

I see me.
