We Replied

I love you

I replied.

I wanted his future with mine.

His carefully guided wisdom.

His whole-hearted embrace.

Imagine a life without.

I couldn’t.

He changed my life.

My palms tremble and sweat.

I stand there.

With unsolved answers,

with an uneasiness.

Unable to read his brown eyes

I attempt to scream.

Using broken lungs.

My green eyes nervously wander.

He leans back on his wooden chair.

My stomach drops.

He replies in an icy tone.

I cheated on you.
