(War) A Glimpse

Thu, 12/05/2013 - 17:38 -- kmauig

I caught a glimpse of
loneliness

loneliness
sitting in my throat

sitting in my throat
the couple dancing

the couple dancing
weaving future into

weaving futures into
each sway they stole

each sway the stole
spent an eternity

spent an eternity
within those minutes

within those minutes
holding possibility

holding possibilty
between their fingers

between their fingers
the dance continued.

I caught a glimpse of
sadness

sadness
sitting in his eyes

sitting in his eyes
her lips spoke of the world

her lips spoke of the world
but she could only see

but she could only see
him, here, now

him, here, now
and her fingers

and her fingers
tracing his shoulder

tracing his shoulder
to remember him by

to remember him by
not to hold him close

not to hold him close
because it was loneliness I saw

because it was loneliness I saw
but only a glimpse.
