Twitches of Shadow

I saw the shadows of the day wax and wane,

in the cardinal directions,

Jostling about the fallen leaves with each twitch,

clearing away the stones of my ancestors,

Blue void turned to grey indifference,

as the clock tower counted away,

I'm caught in the cogs of time,

pinched and crushed between its teeth,

Marching onward to the homes of Oblivion,

each foot falls to the stroking biological metronome,

The light in the sky is not the Sun,

It burns and sears my flesh giving hope to olfactory,

hope to dread the next sunrise and cope with the loss of stars
