Today I had a talk (2)

Today I had a little talk with the class Barbie doll. She's a pretty blonde with blue eyes who seems to have it all.
I expected her to shun me, to point up her nose.
Instead she was rather nice once I finally got her alone.
I asked about her clothing and how much they had cost.
All designer and expensive, "Only the best of course!"
Then the conversation shifted as I asked about her mom. She used to be around a lot, but now only some.
At first Barbie showed discomfort. She squirmed and looked away. Then she gave a weak smile and looked straight at me.
"She's got a new boyfriend it's obvious to me. She thinks she's kept it hidden, but it's not a secret you can keep. I'm pretty sure dad knows too, not that he would care. All that matters to him is his job and all his stupid stock shares."
I watched as the perfect eyes shaped with make up perfectly,
Glistened and shined with small tears, pooling at the creases.
"This is silly!" she exclaimed, chuckling a bit. She wiped away the tears and began reapplying make up.
"I need to go, the girls will be waiting." She stood and adjusted her skirt.
I thanked her for her time and for being so polite.
"Just because I'm nice to you doesn't mean that we're friends,"
I smiled and confirmed with a nod of my head.
Then Barbie smiled again weakly and whisked herself away, ascending back to the throne on which she would remain.
Yes today I had a talk with Barbie about her Barbie doll life, and though she says we won't be friends I think we just might.
Because though the Barbie house is clean and the pink Jeep is running,
The Barbie doll life isn't always quite so bright and stunning.
