The Thoughts of a Heart

Are we really meant to move ahead
All the things holding us back, sometimes I just lay in bed
The war, the debt, the things we can't change
I'd speak about it but get labeled insane

Take one step forward and ten pushed back
It's a wonder we even know how to relax
They tried to say to follow your heart
Did they know it was a lie right from the start

An ache a pain I just can't shake
I know one person who can relate
See her enough I never can
I fear one day she won't give a damn

All of these things and many more
Consume my mind, this weights a chore
And all the while I look on the bright
In a bag lies my sunshine, in the midst of the night
