Things You Have Come to Fear the Most

Location

Imagine the cage – deep inside your mind

The one all seem to fear

Draped in Black and far from kind

Overwhelming, yet hidden, and near

The Beast inside, it rattles the cage

We struggle to keep it mute

“Just throw the drape, just turn the page,

Ignore the furious brute.”

With bold-face lies and grotesque cries

It fights and bites the bars

We hold our breath and close our eyes

And pray it really isn’t ours

Anxiety grows from selfish blows

And we like to pretend no one knows
