Then and Now

A year ago, I was terrified of senior year coming

Now it is in full swing.

Last spring, my mother was my chauffeur

Now, I drive in my blue punch buggy without her.

I was nervously walking into my first day of teaching

I now walk into work without even thinking.

A year ago, I spent most days in bed

I now have a diagnosis and meds.

I was frantically picking out a shirt for my first date

I know now being single is pretty great.

In this past year, I lost ones I loved

But, I learned not every day is guaranteed so the days should be cherished.

Last year, I was admiring my directors in theatre

And now they've asked me to be a leader.

This past year I cried, loved, and laughed more than ever

In 2017, I may shed tears and giggle but I will remember this year forever.
