A Smile Graces My Face

As I get up in the morning

I greet the day.

And although the sun is shining,

A smile does not grace my face.

I go to school as I usually do,

Saying Hello to my fellow youth

But a smile does not grace my face.

I go to work and recieve my paycheck for all my hardwork

But a smile does not grace my face.

I go home and my mother greets me

She is the reason I am here, bringing me here when I was three.

She fights for me each day, making money so I can have a better life.

Although she is tired, she brings me into her embrace.

Her hug shines down on me in rays brighter then the sun

Her words bring me hope, and educate me, more then a textbook ever could

I look at her and adoration surges through me

And a smile graces my face.
