A Slave's Dream

Sun, 07/30/2017 - 15:22 -- DMP800

When I was young all I wanted to be was a baller.
In the streets I learned how to be a shotcaller.
Working on my handles with the steel to be a hitman.
Working on my handles, coach put me as a big man.
The new game and the old game shots fired at us.
But in the new game the police trying to catch us.
This is the game my cousin got me in.
This that game that could've got me locked up in the pin.
No charges on me now.
All the homies like how?
I don't know, just a nice suit and a gentlemen's smile.
The judges sometimes eat that up.
Other times they look at you and try to eat you up.
So before and after the arrest the police trying to beat you up.
I mean what the fuck?
We ain't got time for that.
Innocent citizen here at the wrong place at the wrong time.
They trying to take away his innocence, just because he was a witness of the crime.
They look at him and think he was involved in the crime.
Now he doing some time for a crime:
he didn't even commit.
I mean man I gotta admit.
This government is going to shit.
All the corrupt politics.
The poor stay in the struggle while the rich stay rich.
Another black or minority killed by a policeman, man I'm tired of this shit.
How can we change it?
Well lemme give you a hint,
while I give you this vent.
I mean we just gotta lay out the blueprints. Follow some of our ancestors footprints.
Now we can go in like MLK in marches, signs, and nonviolence,
or we can go in like Malcolm X, Nat Turner, and the L.A. Riots.
If I'm going out, I'm not going out in silence.
I'm going out fighting.
No Trojan horse, but it still got me fighting like a titan.
Once a slave now I broke the chains. Now it's time to break the silence.
So remove the supressor and pull the trigger.
It's just a few more hours and a cop will be beating or killing another nigga.
We can't change the world unless we change ourselves.
Because we were born slaves,
but lets die queens and kings, ring the bells.
