Silent Lies

Silent Lies

By Ember C Tupelo

A darkening sunrise

A beautiful, young girl cries

Betrayed by the knife and its horrible disguise

He tells her its art and she believes his lies

He continues to cut while she cries

But her friend sees the pain in her eyes

She tries, and tries, and tries

To fix her and unspin all the lies

That are buzzing in her head like flies

But the dark in her friend never dies

One day the knife goes a little too deep

The pool of blood a little too steep

Her eyes fall back as she starts to fall asleep

When she realizes what she’s done she begins to weep

A few minutes later she doesn’t make a peep

Her friend walks into to the bathroom

She expected this to come but not that soon

She carries her friend out the door

And runs down the street until her arms are sore

She darts into the emergency room with little hope

She’s just glad she didn’t find her friend dangling from a rope

She sits in the emergency room waiting for hours

People come and go bearing flowers

The fake sorries and get well soons

All the chocolates and big balloons

They don’t do anything but tower

Over her lifeless body, her eyes no longer sweet but sour

MelancholicSmiles

This was indeed glorious. It was such a beautiful poem. I hope for more.
