Sigh For Another Sunrise

Locations

My breath sighs and wakes the dust sleeping still and silent on the

rough leather covering pages of my brain.

EYES SWOLLEN and overflowing with stars,

I begin to gnaw my pencil.

The sound of teeth crunch away at the yellow ticonderoga

echoes rhythmically with the ticking his hands covering the numbers of his face.

He looks at me and SPITS...

"A sanctuary can become a prison."

"Yes, but the sanctuary will imprison the mind."

I don't belong home.

I don't want to be anywhere.

Voices disrupt my speed of thinking...

Words were being whipped at me, breaking the flesh

allowing my life to ooze out from the numb lashes.

Eyes swollen, he is not me and I am not him.

My breath sighs...another sunrise.
