I never found it where I came from.

I looked through valleys and over hills.

But the thing I was searching for,

Was never there.

 

I thought that just this once

I could find the thing I was looking for.

But in that shining moment,

It wasn’t there.

 

The words because I love you meant

Your dreams don’t matter to me,

I can’t accept you for who you are,

Be who I want you to be.

 

Then in my act of defiance

I broke away.

I found myself a new person,

Someone who will show me the truth.

 

The true meaning of because I love you:

I’ll accept you for whoever you are;

Your dreams will come true

No matter what I have to do.
