Sailing Into 2017

Last Year, I was Drowning

Collegiate stress, Financial worry, Severe depression

A hurricane of thoughts crashed like unending waves: “You’re not smart enough.” “You cannot make it.” “You’re a failure”

I wanted to stop fighting the current that bombarded me

I wanted to relax and just... sink.

This Year, I Built a Raft

Scheduled tutoring, University jobs, Counseling sessions

The clouds have opened and the water is calm: “You have resources.” “Utilize your strengths.” “Believe in yourself.”

I crafted oars to get me where I need to go, to just keep rowing

I can rest as I glide through the ocean.
