Resilience

The mirror is my history book

It shows each chance towards death I took

As I was sent away each time

I felt as if I had committed a crime

At least now I know that isn’t true

And that other people have problems too

My mind is as scarred as my body

But, this is inspiring entirely

Thankfully I’m still alive,

I credit my thirst to strive

My past is where it belongs

I have forgiven all that I’ve done wrong

There is too much in my story to tell

The only importance is that I’m well

My soul embodies resilience

My heart exemplifies perseverance

Nothing can ever be erased

But, everything will be embraced

My reflection shows all my progress

and despite everything, I know now I'm flawless
