Darkness

It creeps around me

It surrounds me

Everything is dark

Hurt and pain engulf me

They rearrange my story

There is no hope

I open my eyes to find

a glimpse of something.

Something that’s not dark.

Slowly it brightens.

At the sight the darkness

slowly creeps back in fear

They cannot co-exist

The hurt, the pain

fade to nothing in its presence

Its strong arms wrap around me,

concealing me once again

Darkness cannot hurt me

Through light, I am made whole.

Light has brought me freedom and hope,

hope that will never break.
