Reason

It's the reason we fight

It's the thing to which we owe our lives

Through the darkness it guides

Even when our foolish hearts hide

We are lost, but we try to get by

We are perplexed and broken inside

We beg for things and say "they'll never be mine"

But hope never dies

no matter how hard you try

And I find peace within your eyes

So that is where I choose to reside

Though bounded by the prison that is my mind

and taunted by reality's unforgiving bride

I solemnly sulk and wish for it to die

But without it I'm not sure I could survive

You're a star that I wish on each day that passes by

You're a dream, my beloved

I'm convicted and tried

Guilty of love to which I'll serve my life
