The Race and The Rest

I see You slightly.

You are close by but seem so far away.

I see Your mouth moving and I hear a light whisper,

But I can't hear exactly what You are saying.

I am curious.

You are a bit mysterious.

I want to know who You are and

What You are saying.

I step forward and a wall breaks.

With every step I take, I seem to strike

Success and some common ground,

Because now I can hear You lips make sound.

I am curious.

You are a bit mysterious.

I want to know who You are and

What You are saying.

As I gain ground and the Words off Your lips make sound,

My ears make out a sweet melody.

A peace-making, fear-shaking song You are singing over me.

I can't help but jog towards You with a great longing.

I am curious.

You don't seem that mysterious.

I can recognize that Face

And that comforting Voice.

Tears roll down my cheeks as Your Face becomes clear.

My feet may hurt but I'm running after You still.

I see Your Smile and Your arms wide open as You speak,

"My child,You are almost there. Come closer to Me."

I leap into Your arms and embrace You

As You embrace me.

I feel the warmth and the comfort of Your heart beat and touch

As You sing over me,

"Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.

Take my yoke upon you and learn from me,

For I am gentle and humble in heart,

And you will find rest for your souls."
