Quite Simply, Faith

Calm in the eye of calamity.

That is the strength You give to me.

Pain that can be borne

That’s the promise You have sworn.

Trust when all reason tells me not to,

You inspire an optimistic view.

Power over evil, through You

I find goodness, not upheaval.

Sad in the face of death, yet I don’t despair.

I find fortitude through my prayer.

Accepting what is, not longing for what could be

Belief in You brings me peace not misery.

Alone in my room, but not lonely.

God is forever with me.

A plan I can’t always see,

But I know You will guide me.

With You, Optimism despite many obstacles.

To some that may be comical.

And comfort when times are tough.

That is what God gives, I do not bluff.

Gratitude for simple blessings, the sun, a hug, a smile.

Through You, I am sure that every day’s worthwhile.

Without my faith, I could not live.

It is the greatest gift You give.
