Prone to wander ... satire

Numbers 32:13

13 So the Lord’s anger was kindled against the Israelites,

and he made them wander in the wilderness for forty years,

until all that generation that had done wickedly before the Lord was finished.

Satire …

Wandering through life calling for direction

Listening to my own voice with no time to hear

In my own way now I am a shining reflection

of what is wrong in this world influenced by peers

Keeping my eyes on my self-concerned opinions

A dragonfly is “evil” and a vulture “not” of God

Proclaiming my insight in search of dominion

of the thoughts of others or they like it or not

Floating with the scum, tossed about by waves

Calling it just cream on the top of my voice

My head barely above water with no one to save

Slurping up pollution making this my choice

Fading in the sunset shadows now are growing

Darkness at the window of my soul

It’d too late to turn in my desire knowing

that I only want to live to satisfy my role

Self satisfaction on my banner ponders

Soon it will be half-mast floating in the wind

Folks will say a good one has gone up yonder

but the verdict of the Just One may have a different tint
