Perceive Sound

Location

She sits in the corner of her room, with red walls covered around her.

The bloody barrier, remains of pain from the incisions on her arm.

A radio is to her left playing music. The bittersweet symphony of her life,

but she’s trapped in the mind and her thoughts began over powering her.

All I ever wanted was to be heard, she gasped.

For others to see I am more than just a quite girl in a room,

to inspire young women because no one inspired me.

Lighting is in her eyes from defeat,

A thunder storm lingering from the clouds, and

It all falls to the ground with a pure expression upon her face.

She clutches her hair with a hard thrust

and pounds the head with a bald fist.

Pain is in her heart, but all she does is stare at the walls.

Hunted by her memories that she’s ready to release.

To let her words flow into a music tone, no self pity but triumph.

To have everyone dance to the beat because music is the one thing

we don’t tune out but leaves us hesitant and uncertain.

Silence is the disease that keeps on killing, and from across the room

she envisions a casket; for her decease body frozen because of fear.

In a red slick cloth is where her head lays. Her closed eyes are

full of shame because she took her life instead of living it.

With a change of thought, she stands up, and gathers her thoughts in

a mirror reflection of new beginning. She forethought a full room of

eager ears with one and all dancing on her words. Her story has been

told and now she can finally let go.
