Pennies And Dimes

Location

A child’s eyes full of innocence and hope

dreams of growing up and finding his fame

A man’s eyes focus as he aims his scope

as he kills men in democracie's name

Children’s minds contain the wildest of dreams

as they know, obtainable by all means

Men’s minds contain the worst of tortured screams

haunted by souls of the dead and war scenes

Children excited for knowledge to gain

Enthusiastic about going to space

Men scream out to no one while in great pain

They know the look of a dying man’s face

They are the same man at different times

Searching for true self, like pennies and dimes

I really like this poem! It speaks to me about how much war changes a person and they are left empty and searching for who they truly are. This is very poetic and saddening in it's own way.
