Out of Reasons

I remember the look in your eyes

At the beginning of summer, and

Way your lips were sweet like strawberries

When we first kissed beneath the moonlit

Night sky. But now those strawberries have

Rotted and that magical look has slowly

Faded away. Someone stole the moon from

The sky, and with it, all of your passion.

I see the struggle you make just to look

Me in the eye, and I can feel the regret

Fill your mouth when our lips meet. I

Fear holding on to you that you might

Die of a want for something new. We

Built a fire to keep us warm as I held you

In the winter. But spring is here now and

This fire is dying. You no longer have a

Reason to stay.
