The One That Got Away

I want to kiss you.

I want you to tell me it’s okay.

I want you to say what you’re thinking.

I want to push you off a train as it’s speeding over a bridge with a hundred-foot drop.

I want to do to you what you did to my heart and leave you crippled and bleeding in a ditch on a back road in Arkansas.

I want to hold you.

I want to tell you you’re the only one for me.

I want to hang out with somebody else and forget about you for one damn minute.

I want to smooth the rough look on your young face.

I want to hold you close until we turn to dust and flowers grow where we used to lie.

I want to unsay what I said.

I want you to undo what you did.

I need you back.
