Old Nature

Proverbs 3:5-6

Trust in the Lord with all your heart,
and do not rely on your own understanding.
6 Acknowledge him in all your ways,
and he will make your paths straight.

Old nature

Stronger than an ox ... is my old nature

Pulling on my plow while the field doesn’t mean a thing

My heart is not in it and with my hands in my pocket

I watch my plow go by ... time and time again

Looking at the field ... the rows are zigzagging

Here and there it shows ... the worms that are exposed

They don’t seem to care ... as they are digging down

to find some food and a place to rest like sin in overdose

Mostly the rows seem to go in circles

Oval, round and crummy ... the field looks like a mess

Patterns of a life ... without any direction

With opportunity despised through constant laziness
