Ocean
It overwhelmes me- just staring at its vastness
The deep blue consumes my thoughts
Until I don't know which way is up.
Down, down, down it plunges;
The darkness stretches for miles.
Shiny rocks and scaly fins glisten in the sun
While spindly legs and spine-chilling beasts lurk below.
With each rise and fall of the waves I feel my body sinking-
Sinking in its enormity its immenseness.
My mind is floating, dazed and tousled,
Like the boats that kissed the shore for the last time.
Yet unlike the boats,
I'll never venture from the sand.
