Never Stopped To Smell The Roses

Never Stopped To Smell The Roses

Walked for many years with nothing but wind to wipe her tears.

Head held high with light eyes closed, vulnerable to all her fears.

And she never stopped to smell the roses..

Ran into the arms of many who weren’t worth a moment.

Spent her time with those who never really noticed.

And she never stopped to smell the roses…

Cried much more than she ever smiled and laughed.

Mouth kept shut with little to no hope, she was silently trapped.

And she never stopped to smell the roses..

Wishing and weeping for a happier story to which she was a hero.

Crawling and cursing because she’s broken and has nowhere to go.

And she never stopped to smell the roses…

Dying to go back to a wasted past and fix what she did wrong.

Smiling sadly because she knows it’s too late to change what’s gone on.

And she never stopped to smell the roses...

Shaking her head with tears in her eyes as she slowly slips away.

And she suddenly remembers upon seeing a wilted red flower,

She never once stopped to smell the roses….
