My Storm

Lifting my eyes to the sky above me,

I enjoyed one last glimpse of the light.

And as I prepared my heart, in came the clouds of darkness

To surround me in a seemingly endless night.

The worries began to mount,

Money, health, and happiness vanished

And in its place, was an indescribable

Heart-wrenching anguish.

Sitting behind the wheel of my car,

I asked in a choked-out cry

Why He wasn’t helping us,

Why He had forgotten about us.

But only silence was His reply.

Time dragged by, as I waited for a miracle.

Doctor’s visits, tests, and fear filled my days

Dreams of an untimely end filled my nights

As I frantically tried to find my way out of the haze.

I wanted it all to be a bad dream

And to wake up to find that he was alright.

But we were just at the beginning

And before him was a long, and arduous fight.

When my hope had finally run out,

I gave up trying to fight the rain.

I allowed it mix with my tears

And wash away the pain.

And when I opened my eyes once again,

There was a thin ray of light coming through the clouds

Shining directly upon me, it warmed my heart,

And chased away the enemy’s shrouds.
