My Room Behind the Curtain

Life is a stage hosting a play with an unpredictable plot.
An elaborate play with constant character change,
No set setting,
And an unknown, inevitable end.

We are all actors in this play.
Unique backgrounds,
Wide ranging personalities,
Divergent appearances.

Despite the differences, we are all hiding something.
Be it, a violent past, intrusive thoughts, a lingering depression.
Or be it, a secret lover, a desire or a passion;
The room behind the curtain is never vacant.

The room behind my curtain is a maze.
Around the one corner, you might find happiness.
Happiness that entails a strong will to live,
To experience,
To BE.

Around the next corner, you will trip on a root of confusion.
Blank stares, deep thoughts and a longing for answers.
The question is life.
The fear is that I am not fit.

The root of confusion leads to the darkest path of my maze.
The path is empty and lifeless.
Is the emptiness a foreshadowing to my future?
Is the lifelessness a sign of a slowly approaching depression?

My room behind the curtain is locked for now.
You can let people into your room on your own discretion,
But be it, a licensed professional or a life long friend,
No one will understand because it isn’t their room.
