To My Lost Love

This day is drawing to a close, the night is coming near,

And somewhere out there stars light up, illuminate my fear.

It takes a dense, steel wrecking ball to break through love’s embrace,

But one good hit and all will crack, the memories erased.

It wasn’t long after the start, when crumbling began,

When all our energy ran out, we couldn’t bear to stand.

Our aching hearts withstood the feats, the blood-stained battle wounds;

We reminisce of simple times, of summer afternoons,

But finally we’ve come to terms with simple parting ways.

I’ll only hope that without me, you’ll find some brighter days.

I know that I was not ideal, the perfect one for you,

But realize, through the times we had, my love was always true.
