My Fallen Star
A treasure is said to lie
in a solid wood encased
Hidden from view in years' embrace
A treasure is something found
Like a pearl dug out of a sandy depth
A love possessed from irritation
A treasure is often spoken
as something found that is rarely seen
But a treaure isn't always as it seems
A treasure is a star
fallen from the night sky
streaking across the horizon
never to be seen again
A treasure is a moment in time
that leaves simply a cherished memory
A treasure lies in a heart's thoughts
Though never are they seen
You're my falling star
My simple cherished memory
I can feel your cool embrace again
your treasure encased within me
While passing where your dwelling lay
My heart sealed in a molten case
I didn't want to believe my treasure had wandered
into another's hands
I cursed the ground for not craddling your steps
For somehow not keeping you from harms way.
Why were you taken from me?
I never sacrificed my treasure
The pools of wet stung down my cheeks
Shining mockingly in the glare of the sun
It's brightness glowering pointedly
mocking my hands now empty of you
Sandpaper ripping across my flesh
Eating me from the inside out
Until I realized that my treasure
indeed was heaven sent
and so still held within me lies
A memory of you my dear, so sweet
I feel the freshness of the rain
and can hear your pounding feet
I see the pinholes in the night sky
the dazzling curtains of heaven
and once again I see the sparkle of your eyes
I smile up at cumulus clouds
and I feel you smiling back me
You're here, my treasure
You're in my heart
You keep in time beside me
You're always in my thoughts
Even though you've gone away
Even though you weren't here to stay
You're still my treasure from a far
My brightly, streaking fallen star.
