Must Believe in Something

It’s vital to know, the stakes I conceive

Are heaven or hell, nothing or rebirth

But how can I know when I must believe?

Denying existence is not naïve

I credit my mind with too much worth

It’s vital to know, the stakes I conceive

Eternity is the gamble: perceive

Do our soul’s leave when our bodies meet earth?

But how can I know when I must believe?

Do not let the expression “proof” deceive

We cannot escape present thoughts, our girth

It’s vital to know, the stakes I conceive:

Rebirth reoccurs, Hell you cannot leave

Nothingness persists; so does heaven’s mirth

But how can I know when I must believe?

Certainty is something none can achieve

So I choose with high stakes and data dearth

It’s vital to know, the stakes I conceive:

But how can I know when I must believe?
