The civil rights act of 1964,
we stopped discrimination and ended the war.

This was a dream, this was like heaven,
counted on the vote of 73 to 27.

This meant equal rights for religion, color, and race,
the act paved the way of freedom, and opened the gates.

Many opposed, and thought it was to soon,
but tell me why the president signed it that very afternoon.

So overjoyed the happiness poured,
this was a very crucial act to move forward.
