Mother

Your fingers stroking through my hair

My heart is warmed

Your gentle press on my shoulder

Reminds me why I’m here

In your absence

My light is extinguished

Without you

The darkness creeps in

You taught me your ways

Through example I followed

You taught me the difference

Between needs and wants

I needed your nurturing

I wanted your knowledge

I need to grow up

I want to keep your forever

You’ve prepared me for my future

Always wishing best

If it weren’t for you

I wouldn’t be me

My family
