Memoirs of A Jail Bird

Location

I AM A JAIL BIRD!

I AM A JAIL BIRD!

I have been imprisoned my entire life.

17 years 10 months 2 weeks 12 hours 26 minutes 32 seconds

and an eternity to go.

With these invisible cuffs around my wrists and this vibrant tape upon my lips....

I AM A JAIL BIRD!

Unable to sing,

Restricted space to spread my wings,

Begging for those tiny sunbeams.

But you see this JAIL BIRD is no “ordinary” JAIL BIRD.

Bound to this life from the day of my birth,

And forced into silence for the rest of my days.

I AM A JAIL BIRD!

Oh how I long to escape this life sentence.

How I envy those on the outside.

How depressing these 4 walls are

How lonely I am

Yearning for a chance to be free’d.

But, I am a Jail Bird.

Solitary confinement for 17 years 10 months  2 weeks 12 hours 24 minutes 22 seconds

And an eternity to go.

Not permitted to speak my mind

Told to keep it all inside

No need to concern those who are free with my troubles

No need to annoy anyone with my naive thoughts

*chuckles* you see THIS is why

I AM A JAIL BIRD

Since birth I have been told NOT to speak,

“You are not to bother others with your issues, you are NOT to complain, you are to keep your feelings and thoughts to yourself because only yourself can help yourself; we do not have the time to help you.”

Yes, I AM A JAIL BIRD!

Solitary confinement for 17 years 10 months  2 weeks 12 hours 23 minutes 17 seconds

Longing for the day I will be free’d

When I will spread these wings and sing freely

With NO fears of loneliness

No thoughts of complaint

No feelings of annoying those who were freed before me

I WILL NO LONGER BE A JAIL BIRD

Because..

I WILL BE FREE......

FREE....TO BE....ME!
