Mannequin

He kissed her lips and whispered

“I love you.”

She smiled

Kissed his lips and whispered

“I love you.”

He turned away and she frowned.

She wanted to love him.

She felt so cold.

So empty.

She could not remove the mask that she had worn for so long.

She is cold and unfeeling.

Nothing but a mannequin built by the expectations of others.

I have worn this mask for so long that its cemented to my face,

And I don’t even remember what sleeps behind it
