Loving Reflection

It’s because I love you,

That I would make you cry.

And that’s why

I’m your greatest ally.

It’s because I love you,

That I forced you to wear makeup.

Because the monster you look like

Needs to cover up.

It’s because I love you,

That I would yell and be critical.

So that people could no longer

Think of you as pitiful.

It’s because I love you,

That I made you stay up late

And exercise,

So you could lose weight.

It’s because I love you,

That I tried to make you dye your hair,

Since people called you names,

And you pretended like you didn’t care.

You ask why I’m doing this to you?

It’s because I love you!

It’s because I love you,

That I can tell you that you aren’t good enough…

#That’s not love

I should love you

No matter your appearance.

I should love you

And no longer want your disappearance.

I should love you

And eat right.

I should love you

And go to sleep early every night.

When I look at you in the mirror,

I should love you.

Because before I can love others,

I need to learn to love you, my beautiful self!
