Love Isn't Prideful

Because I love you,

I tell you to sleep,

wish you well dreams,

and tell you good morning.

Because I love you,

I listen to you sing off key,

put up with trashy tv,

and rant with you against the night.

Because I love you,

I give you room to grow,

space to heal,

and a place to feel.

Because I love you,

I'll drag you back from the edge,

when rationality folds to emotion,

when you're done.

Because I love you,

I open myself to your friends too,

and listen to music that makes me think of you,

and keep your photo in my room.

Because I love you,

I give you pieces of myself to hold beneathe the light,

I let go of that morning's fight,

I listen to your advice.

Because I love you,

I'll be honest,

won't push you past your limits,

and trust you to do the same.

Because I love you,

I'll hold you when you cry,

give my jacket to keep you dry,

and tell you when I say goodbye,

that I love you.
