Love

Love

It brings a bouncing beat

To the most reclusive rooms

It swells and softens

Or hardens

Depending on the dream that day

But you don’t have to beg it pardon

Because it knows

When you try and hide from the bad thoughts

Or lie when the words can’t get off your tongue

Love sees how hard you’ve fought

And begs you

Softly

Silently

To utter truths and not tall tales

At times you want to be alone

To fade into falling dreams

To read that book beside the fire

And love understands

That cracking, crowding noise

Isn’t necessary

To prove devotion

Dependence

Direct transcendence

Into a world warm with

Respect and honesty and trust

And forgetting for a moment

That cold winds are outside the closed doors

Because your worlds are bright

Calm

Kind

And you

And your love

Will always find a peace of mind
