lost & found

lost & found

this year, my dear,

i lost my heart,

    i lost my keys,

i lost the chart

that i used to keep my life in lines,

dreams confined,

world crystalline.

this year, my dear,

i found my strength,

    i found my keys,

i found the length

i can be pushed until I fall,

through the wall,

drop it all.

this year, my dear,

i lost my cool,

    i lost my keys,

i was a fool

To think you loved me like I, you,

severed canoe,

scotch tape and glue.

this year, my dear,

i found your smile,

    i found my keys,

i found the file

where i stored the memories of us skipping,

on cold ice, slipping,

winter nipping.

this year, my dear,

maybe I will stop losing my keys.
