Lost

Have you ever felt like you can’t get out of bed? You feel you literally cannot get dressed? Like you have no energy to pick up a fork? Or put on a shirt? No interest or ability to concentrate on anything? Unable to do the things that once brought joy into your life? Than to top it off there is the sadness. The World Health Organization characterizes the mental disorder known as depression as, “persistent sadness and loss of interest in activities that you normally enjoy, accompanied by an inability to carry out daily activities.” That is just the tip of the iceberg. The organization than describes a list of the many other effects that accompany this disorder. I have battled with this disorder for the past five years, but I am lucky enough to have a supportive family to help me through the challenges this illness brings.
